Belfast Operatic Company : Office Bearers
Thompson Steele (President)
A long serving and enthusiastic member of the Company, Thompson (better known as Thompie) served the Committee for over 20 consecutive years as Company Treasurer, overseeing the income and expenditure of productions and the day to day running of Heron Road. In 2010 Thompie was popularly voted the new President of the Company and continues to play an extremely active part in the running of BOC. Thompie also acts as the Company's AIMS representative, as well as completing many small but vital roles which ensure the smooth running of the premises.
Keith Pyper (Chairman)
Keith has had a lifelong association with BOC from coming to watch as a young boy and making his Grand Opera House debut with them at age 13 in a production of Pirates of Penzance. he became a full company member in 2011 and was honoured to be part of the production of the memorable centenary production of ‘Titanic the Musical’ during the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of that great ship. He also felt honoured to become the chairman of this wonderful group in 2014.
Gary Redpath (Secretary)
Gary is a graphic designer by day with a strong interest in theatre by night. He has been a member of Belfast Operatic Company for numerous years, and took on the role of Secretary of the company in 2015 - it is through Belfast Operatic that he has had experience working most on stage, having been in shows such as ‘Beauty And The Beast’, ‘Hello, Dolly!’, ‘Calamity Jane’, ‘Titanic The Musical’, ‘Rodgers & Hammersteins Cinderella’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’ all at the stunning theatre that is the Grand Opera House. Most recently he has taken on various 'behind the scenes' roles, including Stage Management (RENT), and Directing (The Last Five Years).
Elizabeth Boyd (Treasurer)
A Life Member of the Company, Elizabeth joined as a babe in arms in 1983 (ahem!). She quickly worked her way up from chorus girl and enjoyed playing many principal roles in the Grand Opera House and beyond.
Offstage, she has often served on the main committee, even chairing it for a year. For the last few years she has concentrated on the marketing side of things but has decided to brush up on her arithmetic and step up to the mark once more with the role of Treasurer.
She hopes to successfully follow the trail blazed by the previous Treasurers and keep a firm hand on the controls of the Company's finances!
Joy Kerr (Patrons Secretary)
Joy is the smiling face of "Friends of Belfast Operatic Company." She will keep our Friends informed of upcoming shows and concerts.
